The first BOWS Contest
The 2nd BOWS Contest was held : http://bows2.gipsa-lab.inpg.fr/ .
The first BOWS Contest ended on June 15, 2006.
In the first phase of the Contest, we received from more than 300 IP addresses 72074 Attacked Images; in 10034 of them the watermark was erased while granting a minimum PSNR of 30 dB between the watermarked image and the attacked one.
The Steering Committee nominated as winner of the contest the Team held by Scott Craver, Binghamton University.
After the end of the contest, the watermarking algorithm used to embed the watermark into the three images was revealed to be the one described in "Applying Informed Coding and Embedding to Design a Robust, High capacity Watermark", M. L. Miller, G. J. Doerr and I. J. Cox, IEEE Trans. on Image Processing, 13, 6, 792-807, June 2004.
After that, the BOWS web site remained open other 3 months for the second phase of the contest during which the algorithm was made public.
We received from more than 100 IP addresses 688186 Attacked Images; in 19676 of them the watermark was erased while granting a minimum PSNR of 30 dB.
The contender reaching the highest PSNR value was Andreas Westfeld, from TU Dresden.
